 Recently, defence  minister of INDIA  procured PINAKA missile ,.it's  updates here, 
- ministry of defence announced that it had sealed deal with three Indian companies for supply of 6 regiments of the PINAKA  rocket system at the approximate cost ₹2580 crore which will be  developed along borders with Pakistan and China. 

It's origin

PINAKA, was named after Lord Shiva's bow ,the development of the Pinaka was started by DRDO in the late 1980's as an alternative to the multi barrel rocket launching system of Russian make called the 'Grad'. 
It was first used in the battle field during the Kargil war 1999.

It's essential  utilisation  are, 

In the battlefield long-range artillery systems like Pinnacle are used for attacking the adversary targets Priya to the close quarter battles which involve small range artillery, armed elements and the infantry. 

Its launch system specifics 

The Pinaka which is primarily multi barrel rocket system( MBRL) system can fire a salv of 12 Rockets were a period of 44 seconds. 
One battery of pinaka system consists of 6 launch vehicles ,accompanied at the loader system radar and links with network based system and their command post. 


PINAKA  VERSIONS, 

The mark-1 version of pinaka was a range of around 40 kilometres. 
Then mark-2 version can fire up to 75 km and has been modified as a guided Missile system by Integrating it with a navigation control and guidance system to improve the the end accuracy.
